26 Aug - IP Academy & ASME IP Outreach/ Roundtable Discussion

Attended this event and I would like to thank ASME for organizing and inviting me. This seminar has provided me some form of endorsement in the way I do business as well as some of my believe.

I have to admit that the speaker is extremely good and these are the people that the SME will need to learn from. David, the speaker has provided us simple and inexpensive but yet effective solution to a problem that SME faces todat. I think ASME should organize more of these events.

All this while, I have ignored the issue of IP in my scope of work and like what David said, I just place the Copyright symbol to all my work. It has done wonders for me as my partners will formerly request for permission to make amendments to the system I developed.

The PR approach is definitely a better way of engagement as compared to legal actions. My saying has often be why pay the lawyers while we maybe able to work out a win-win in between? Yes, IP is valuable and I have been doing R&D since 1999 in order to get me to where I am now. I am a firm believer of IP, but I also believe that speed of marketing and striking a difference in the way you deliver your business holds the key to success. It is my ability to enhance and make improvement to the IP that people values and it is not the creation of it.

David also spoke of 100% of nothing vs 10% of something. This was exactly the reason why I choose to share my business with partners and associate thru leveraging on one another's expertise, strength and resources.

With his endorsement, I shall continue with my work in the same manner as before and moving forward, I would like to structure my business in creating more IPs than before.
