Hong Kong Day 3 - 30 Sep

We started our day with a traditional hong kong breakfast. Tou Chan A and Tou Chan B. What you see in the picture cost me HKD 21.00 (SGD 4.00).

After breakfast, we met up with our tour guide and he brought us to Repulse Bay. Apart from this place being an expensive location where lots of rich and movie star stays, there is a temple where we pray to Guan Yin and the Mother of Jade Emperor.

I have being told that the white house in the red circle is own by mega movie star - Jacky Chan. We also saw the house of Ekin, Rosmand Kwan and the director of TVB.

After repulse bay, we took a trip to Hong Kong Zai. A place where the original hong kong people stay. Hong Kong started from fishing and all the original hong kong people stays in the sea. From this place, you can take a boat ride to see their lifestyle and also to take a closer look at the Jumbo Restuarant. According to our tour guide, it is very expensive to dine there now.

We then visited a jewellery how and a chinese herb shop before heading for our lunch. The lunch was so so and soon, we are on our way to Lantau Island to visit the famous Bronze Buddha. Lantau Island used to be a more rural area of Hong Kong and this is where most of the people go for hiking and mountain climbing. This part of Hong Kong has very much developed after the airport and disneyland was built.

We quickly board the cable car and soon we are on our journey to the bronze buddha. Along the way, we took a glimpse of the breath-taking sight of Lantau Island.

Since the airport is in Lantau Island, I managed to take a few shot of the Hong Kong Airport from the cable car.

While we approach the place of interest, we already can see the bronze buddha from far.

Soon, our 30min cable car ride ended and we need to walk another 600m to the foot of the hill where the buddha sits. Below is a shopping area around the cable car station.

Since the weather is super hot, we all stopped by an ice cream stall to have ice cream. Sydney (cousin in law) was so excited and she got herself into a mess eating ice cream!!!

We are now 200m away from the foot of the hill where the buddha sits. The scenary around the buddha is fantastic. I took a shot of the buhhda at this spot again.

This is around 50m away from the foot of the hill where the buddha sits. I stopped my wife and took this shot.

A shot up the hill with 400+ steps that we have to take before reaching the top.

I took a few shot from the top of the hill. You will notice the temple as well as a round area platform the resemble Tien Tan in Beijing. Tien Tan is the place where the former emperor of china will pray to the god.

Poor us. We now have to walk another 600m back to the cable car station.

It was already evening when we arrived at Lantau Island. The sun is about to set and I took a final shot of the cable car and the scenic view of Lantau Island.

We soon reached our hotel and both my wife and myself went out for dinner. We walked into this small cafe and ordered some food. Not fantastic but definitely better than those at Disneyland.

After dinner, we walked around the neighbourhood - Tsim Sha Tsui. Lots of shop around this area. Soon we felt tired and went back to hotel for our sleep. 1 Oct 2008 is national day and it will be a public holiday. The roads are packed with people.
